Games will only get bigger for a few of the teams on the below list, and most may only get this one remaining opportunity to prove their worthiness prior to the start of bowl season.
What’s more is that it’s a huge rivalry weekend, as Thanksgiving weekend usually is in college football. Will upsets reign, or will the College Football Playoff get to leave everything as it is and duck a little controversy?
On the season, 45-32-1 (58.4%) on picks. For against-the-spread picks, it ain’t bad.
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick One
Arizona State at Arizona (-2.5)
Friday, 3:30pm ET (Fox)
Both major Arizona college football teams are having good seasons. This year, the Territorial Cup may have a major impact on who wins the Pac-12 South, and it could well be the winner of this game (as long as UCLA loses, anyway). There is not much daylight separating these two teams right now, and in that case, I’m going to defer to the home team. Arizona -2.5
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick Two
Michigan at Ohio State (-20.5)
Saturday, 12pm ET (ABC)
The coach of the aforementioned Arizona Wildcats knows a thing or two about Michigan, and losing there, like the man who replaced him. Brady Hoke is about to get Rich Rod’d out of town, but not before the Buckeyes give their arch rival Wolverines an atomic wedgie at the Horseshoe. It will be the final insult in a stinging season for Michigan. Ohio State -20.5
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick Three
Mississippi State (-2.5) at Mississippi
Saturday, 3:30pm ET (CBS)
The Egg Bowl would have had even more meaning if Ole Miss hadn’t imploded. They did, but they can still stop their in-state rivals from winning a national championship. With a loss on Saturday, Mississippi State is done in the playoff race, but the Rebels are playing their worst football of the season right around now. Horrible timing, not that there’s ever good timing for it. MS State -2.5
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick Four
Minnesota at Wisconsin (-14)
Saturday, 3:30pm ET (Fox)
Wisconsin is a fine team, but Minnesota deserves a bit more credit than this. Would not at all be surprised if this is a close game, though still expect the Badgers to claim Paul Bunyan’s axe. Minnesota +14
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick Five
Auburn at Alabama (-8.5)
Saturday, 7:45pm ET (ESPN)
The Iron Bowl, like the Egg Bowl, lost some of its punch with Auburn losing a few games down the stretch. The Tiger magic from last season seems to be running out and one can imagine Alabama wants sweet revenge after last year’s debacle. Alabama -8.5
Week 14 College Football Picks: Pick Six
Utah State at Boise State (-8.5)
Saturday, 10:15pm ET (ESPN2)
The Broncos have flown under the radar all season despite being 9-2 and now ranked, while Utah State has done much more of it, going 9-3 in spite of having lost Chuckie Keeton early in the year. This could be a fun one but the Broncos should take it. BSU -8.5
