Boston College SEC Football Schedule-A-Team: Tennessee Volunteers
All-Time History With Boston College: 10 games (2-8-0)
Last Faced: 1992 Hall of Fame Bowl (Tennessee wins, 38-23)
Travel (if necessary): Two, maybe two and a half hours out to Knoxville.
Mutual Interest Factor: Can’t be that great.
Intrigue Factor: Intriguing in that we have finally stumbled upon an SEC team with which Boston College actually has a reasonable amount of history.
The Verdict: Would schedule home or away.
Boston College claims a national championship based upon their victory over Tennessee in the 1941 Sugar Bowl. The most recent time they met was also in a bowl game, but the two schools have scheduled home-and-homes in the past.
We’re about 20 years overdue for the next one, which tells me that the interest has cooled off to non-existence, but it is not crazy to suggest that it could happen again. Unlikely given how the college football landscape has changed, but not impossible.
