Week 12 College Football Rankings: Eagles On Collision Course With #2

There is no chance the Boston College Eagles could be ranked in the Week 12 college football rankings, or any rankings for the rest of the season. They can, however, have a big impact on the College Football Playoff the next time they take the field.

Florida State has held firm at number two in the rankings for some time, and they happen to be the Eagles’ next opponents after the bye. The Seminoles will present a strong challenge, but they also have much more to lose.

What about the other teams that surround them in the polls this week?

Week 12 College Football Rankings: Sayonara

Utah and West Virginia have been ejected from this week’s poll. Also considered for removal from the premises were LSU and Oklahoma.

We must grudgingly welcome Colorado State to the rankings; they are 9-1 in part because of their victory over the Boston College Eagles.

The battle between fourth and fifth place is one that will be closely watched as the playoff draws near. This week, we give it to Oregon, but one can absolutely make the case that TCU should be there. The Horned Frogs have done very well against ranked opposition this year; if they hold on to that game against Baylor, they are probably in the top three right now.
