Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Six

facebooktwitterreddit

The Week 7 college football picks, like every week, look at six college football games against the spread. Hence, it is a pick six.

Please note that this is not the kind of pick six that, say, former Jets starter Mark Sanchez might throw. Rather, the kind where we usually bat around .500 on a good week.

All picks involving ACC teams come later.

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick One
Texas vs. Oklahoma (-15)

Saturday, 12pm ET (ABC)

The Red River Shootout slash Rivalry slash whatever they call it now is ordinarily a big game between two hated rivals. The 2014 edition happens to look lopsided, but the Horns would like nothing more than to essentially nuke any chance Bob Stoops and the Sooners have of finishing the season in the playoffs.

Oklahoma is coming off of their first loss, but Texas already has several. The Longhorns’ major problem is their inability to score, while the Sooners have no trouble whatsoever. The Texas defense will have to keep them in it but Oklahoma is a better team. Oklahoma -15

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Two
Northwestern at Minnesota (-4)

Saturday, 12pm ET (BTN)

Northwestern is playing better lately, but they still don’t score a lot of points. They again face a team with a good defense in Minnesota. This is probably not going to be a high-scoring game, but give the edge to the home team. Minnesota -4

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Three
Georgia (-3) at Missouri

Saturday, 12pm ET (CBS)

Tricky SEC game here. Georgia is the team that most would naturally be inclined to think will win, but Missouri responded to their loss to Indiana by going to South Carolina and winning. They’re a solid team, and the gut says they win a close one at home. Missouri +3

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Four
TCU at Baylor (-9)

Saturday, 3:30pm ET (ABC)

What kind of world do we live in where the #9 team is a nine-point underdog to the #5 team? The one where the #5 team scores over 50 points per game.

Both of these teams look like the complete package with offense and defense, but one is going to win, and that’s probably the home team. However, TCU was impressive last week and this is Baylor’s first go against a ranked team. TCU +9

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Five
Auburn (-3) at Mississippi State

Saturday, 3:30pm (CBS)

Or how about the world where the #2 team on the road is a favorite over the #3 team at home? Given that Mississippi State has beaten top ten teams in each of their last two games, it’s not much of a reach to suggest they might win.

Gus Malzahn has some weird lucky juju going on since he became the Auburn coach, and he may have this team in the title game for the second-straight year, but not if the Bulldogs have anything to say about it. Dak Prescott leads Mississippi State into the top two. Mississippi State +3

Week 7 College Football Picks: Pick Six
Oregon (-3) at UCLA

Saturday, 3:30pm ET (Fox)

Here’s another tricky game. Both teams are coming off somewhat surprising losses within the Pac-12 and are looking to rebound. Oregon looked ordinary for a change against Arizona, and UCLA could not seal the deal inside of a few minutes to go on their home turf.

At this point, it’s just a question of asking which team looks like the better one overall, and that is probably the Ducks. Oregon -3
