In the battle of BC offense vs. NCSU defense, Boston College will want to see more from the offensive unit as a whole. A lot more.

More from Football

Over the previous few weeks, the Eagles looked shifty and even a little bit creative, making opposing defenses seem flat-out stupid in the process of trying to figure out how to stop the run.

Then, inexplicably, Boston College went to a more conservative gameplan against the Colorado State Rams, and their lack of aggressiveness ultimately contributed to a bad loss.

If the Eagles have saved what remains of their bag of tricks for ACC play, the NC State game would be a good place to start deploying them.

BC Offense vs. NCSU Defense: Statistical Comparison

• The Eagles dropped a bit to 29.6 points scored per game (T-69th FBS)
• The Wolfpack allow 28.5 points per contest (84th)

• Boston College’s run game still produces 316.80 yards per game overall (6th)
• NC State is allowing 171 yards per game on the ground (78th)

• But the Eagles pass game generates only 133.2 ypg (121st)
• The Pack pass defense gives up 225.2 ypg (T-51st)

• BC’s total offense is therefore 450 ypg even (43rd)
• As for NC State, that’s 396.2 yards per game allowed (68th)

• The Eagles are underwater in turnovers at -2 overall (T-90th)
• The Pack is the opposite at +2 overall (T-42nd)

• Boston College has gotten Tyler Murphy sacked 1.4 times per game (T-35th)
• NC State gets to the quarterback twice per game (T-66th)

• BC converts just 38.57% of third downs (88th)
• NC State is one of the worst on third down defense at 51.69% (126th)

• The Eagles are scoring in the red zone 94.44% of the time (14th)
• The Wolfpack allow red zone scores 81.82% of the time (T-63rd)
