2014 Boston College Quarterbacks Preview: Darius Wade, The Back-up
Our Preview: Darius Wade, QB
Boston College fans are excited about Wade and what he might mean for the future of the team. He could end up as the starter himself someday, and he just might have a fine career at Boston College.
As for now, save for a horrible fate befalling Murphy, he will not get the chance in 2014.
In fact, it was thought that Wade could get to redshirt and take the season to learn the college game, but when James Walsh’s transfer was announced at the start of camp, the plan was changed and Wade began taking second-team snaps.
Wade is another dual-threat quarterback who impressed at the high-school level. As a senior, he was named the Delaware Football Player of the Year by Gatorade.
As of right now, to borrow another baseball term, Wade could see limited snaps in 2014 in “mop-up duty” as he prepares to potentially take the reigns in 2015. Not to say he would do poorly, but if Wade gets significant playing time this season, it would be due to something bad having happened to Murphy.
