Ray is the second commit already in the new month of July, coming after a month in which Boston College got an astounding 13 new commitments for June.
Rivals and 247 rate Ray, out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a three star recruit. The 6’3 230lbs defensive lineman also had offers from Minnesota, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Wake Forest among others. A few of those other offers included MAC schools like Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Miami of Ohio.
Ray is already the sixth commit from the state of Florida during this recruiting process for 2015, a sign that the staff’s efforts to find talent in the recruit-rich South is paying off. That the Eagles have already gotten this many recruits to commit so early in the process also says something about good these coaches are at winning these young men over, and the kind of program they are building at Boston College.
Wyatt Ray figures to be another solid addition to the Boston College defensive line already bolstered this year by heralded freshman Harold Landry. Defensive Coordinator Don Brown will have yet another toy to play with in 2015.
Let’s all welcome Wyatt Ray to the Heights and hold out breaths till Coach Addazio gets his next Dude.
