3. Men’s basketball’s NCAA Tournament hopes crashed by Clemson
The senior-heavy men’s basketball team had just beaten Wake Forest for the second-straight time, and then they faced Clemson in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on March 11. BC’s bubble status was very much in question, and one more win could have done it.
The Eagles went on to lose by 23, with Clemson jumping out to a 17-3 lead in the first half. This lopsided defeat guaranteed that BC would not be playing in the NCAA Tournament, and what made it particularly disappointing is the knowledge that it could be a few more years yet before the Eagles are back in that position. It was probably our last chance for a while to see BC go dancing, and they missed it.
