3.) Can Chase Rettig finally fix the accuracy issues?

Reference Question 4 for part of the answer: It’s not all him, because he doesn’t have a lot of time to throw. Not only that, but sometimes when he DOES hit the receiver, it’s dropped. Part of it is him, however, and it’s at least a little concerning.

He has had opportunities to move the football with open receivers, but we’ve seen him miss these guys badly on a number of occasions. That’s his most major problem with accuracy right now, but again, it’s not easy to throw a ball when you’re on the run, have two linebackers three inches from your face, or when receivers don’t always catch the ball.

Put all of it together and you get Rettig’s completion percentage of 52.1%. As stated, I do not hold him entirely responsible for this, but there are issues that he needs to work out. Frankly, what I’d like to see is how Rettig looks with a solid offensive line. When BC was playing UMass, for obvious reasons, the offensive line troubles were somewhat mitigated, and not surprisingly, he had a good game, but even at that, he only completed 14/22 passes (3 TD) for 196 yards.

I do honestly believe he is a talented young man and a capable quarterback who is being failed by his offensive line, but that he needs to start making the most of the chances he gets to make plays. It’s not all that likely it’ll begin against Clemson, but you’d imagine it has to eventually start somewhere.
