4.) Will BC’s offensive line hold up or get run over (again)?

Well, you want to think it’ll hold up, but realistically, it probably won’t. As previewed in the Clemson defense article, the Tiger defensive line is big, experienced, and pretty damn fierce. Most recently, this group helped pressure Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas (sacked 4 times) and held the Hokie offense to just three points and a mediocre 258 yards. Now, you can’t say they’ll do that to every team they’ll face every week, because they haven’t, but Clemson can definitely limit Boston College.

Our offensive line isn’t anywhere near what it used to be. Last week, if for some reason you hadn’t figured it out prior to the Wake game, should have told you what you needed to know about BC’s line. The Deacs had been having big trouble getting to the quarterback before they played the Eagles, and yet, they were putting Rettig on the turf and chasing him all over the backfield. I have mental imagery of Chase running for his life as three orange-clad men head for him like heat-seeking missiles.

At the risk of stating the obvious and insulting your football intelligence, you can’t win with a bad offensive line. Right now, we’ve got a bad offensive line, and both offensive phases are suffering for it. I am struggling to see how they’ll hold up.
