2014 Boston College Football Offense: Offensive Line

Boston College ran for over 250 yards per game, and that would have never been possible if not for good blocking up front. The USC game stands out: Boston College, a team that barely moved the football on the Trojans at all in their 2013 meeting, ran for 450 yards against them in 2014. There were other games like Syracuse where they did not do nearly as well, and they did give up more than a few tackles for a loss, so a full A was not warranted here, but as things go, the offensive line was one of the least of Boston College’s problems this season.

2014 Boston College Football Offense: OL Stats

The Eagles allowed just 1.62 sacks per game, which is tied for 31st nationally.

Boston College did, however, give up seven tackles for a loss per game, which was much closer to the bottom of FBS than the top.

Generally speaking, the Eagles were good with regard to penalties this season, meaning few avoidable procedural penalties by the offensive line. The Penn State was a notable exception, as it was by far their worst fouling game of the season.
