ACC Football Week 13: Notre Lame
The Fighting Irish continue their freefall as they lost their fourth game out of five, falling at home, 31-28, to the Louisville Cardinals. A new ACC team beat a quasi-ACC team in a feel-good moment of the night for Boston College football fans.
Louisville had the better of the first half, taking a 17-6 lead into the locker room after two Reggie Bonnafon touchdown runs. Yet, Notre Dame was about to take the lead in the third quarter, only to give it back for good minutes later.
Like the Boston College game, it came down to a missed kick, except Kyle Brindza’s to force overtime was only a 32-yard attempt.
After starting the year 6-0, with Lou Holtz slobbering all over his beloved Irish as a championship contender, Notre Dame has fallen apart. Maybe that Florida State game was the turning point of their season, in a negative way.
A big part of this is their defense melting down. Early in the year, especially after a big shutout win over Michigan, they met a great deal of praise, but lately, the Irish defense has been getting run. That sort of thing will typically ruin your plans of winning a championship.
