Boston College Conference USA Football Schedule-A-Team: Rice Owls

All-Time History With Boston College: None
Last Faced: Not applicable

Travel (if necessary): Over three hours by plane to get to Houston, maybe closer to four.

Mutual Interest Factor: Negative.

Intrigue Factor: Negative.

The Verdict: Would be open to a one-off at Alumni Stadium, but they would not.

Boston College and Rice have never seen each other, and are going to go on not seeing each other for a long time. This is not intended as a statement of hatred or dismissiveness towards the fine university in Houston, but a statement of objective fact.

If they were closer, it might make more sense, as Rice is a very good academic school, which they have in common with us.

Boston College Conference USA Football Schedule-A-Team: Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles

All-Time History With Boston College: None
Last Faced: Not applicable

Travel (if necessary): Three hours or thereabouts by plane down to the Gulf Coast.

Mutual Interest Factor: The only interest we have received from someone at Southern Miss was Aaron Brown transferring to Boston College basketball.

Intrigue Factor: The answer should be clear given the previous statement.

The Verdict: Would only consider a one-off at home.

Perhaps this could happen someday, but as previously established, smaller football programs in the South have their pick of potential SEC suitors who would love to beat them up.

One potential problem I foresee with this one is that some commentators will call this a meeting of “Golden Eagles vs. Golden Eagles.” Those folks are what we in Boston call “idiots.”
