Boston College Big 12 Football Schedule-A-Team: Texas Longhorns

All-Time History With Boston College: 3 games (1-2-0)
Last Faced: 1977 (Texas wins, 44-0)

Travel (if necessary): Wash, rinse, repeat — about four hours by plane.

Mutual Interest Factor: There used to be pre-Doug Flutie. Clearly none in any sport in about 30 years.

Intrigue Factor: Texas’s brand alone would be interesting to Boston College fans, especially those old enough to remember the Eagles’ huge upset over the Longhorns at Alumni Stadium in 1976. As for mutual intrigue, I doubt it.

The Verdict: Sure, why not? If you’re willing to schedule Maryland, you can schedule us, right?

Chances are we are not going to see Texas at Alumni Stadium any time soon, or Boston College playing in front of 1.4 million people in the stands in Austin. It would be kind of awesome, don’t deny it, but there has not been any activity along this front in a long time, and there are no ties that bind these two schools. The closest we have come since the malaise days of the 1970s was the 25-inning NCAA Tournament baseball game against the Longhorns in 2009. One would hope the two programs earned some respect for each other that day.
