Boston College FBS Independents Schedule-A-Team: Navy Midshipmen
All-Time History With Boston College: 29 games (18-11-0)
Last Faced: 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl (BC wins, 25-24)
Travel (if necessary): Doable. It’s a little too long to do by charter bus, but through the air, maybe about an hour and a half from Boston.
Mutual Interest Factor: There was some, but unknown now. With Chet Gladchuk there, it is a bit surprising that it has been eight years since the Midshipmen have played the Eagles.
Intrigue Factor: Similar to that of Army, though maybe a bit more special as the Eagles see Navy less often.
The Verdict: Would schedule home or away.
The last time Boston College actually scheduled Navy was in 2002. These two programs used to see each other quite a bit from the 1970s through the early 2000s yet, ironically, the games stopped right around the time Gladchuk, a Boston College alumnus and former athletic director, arrived at Navy. A conflict of interest for him, maybe.
Boston College may familiarize themselves with Annapolis again in the near future, but Navy would be worth a home-and-home like they used to do in the not too distant past. I would not play them and Army in the same season, of course, but someday.
