Boston College FBS Independents Schedule-A-Team: Brigham Young Cougars
All-Time History With Boston College: 3 games (2-1-0)
Last Faced: 2006 (BC wins, 30-23 in double OT)
Travel (if necessary): Fairly lengthy. Boston is about five hours by plane from Salt Lake City, Provo, or wherever locally they would fly. Ground travel is out of the question.
Mutual Interest Factor: Probably not a great deal, but who knows.
Intrigue Factor: There would be some. Both are reasonably respectable private “religious” schools. Someone outside the two fanbases would watch.
The Verdict: Would consider scheduling.
BYU would be worth a game someday. Within the next five seasons, including this one in progress, there is a game against ACC foe Virginia, as well as UConn and UMass. The point is they do schedule within reach of us geographically.
There is no reason to my knowledge that BYU would say no to it, nor can I see a reason why Boston College would take a pass on a one-off. It would not be much of a recruiting coup if they played in Utah but there are worse fits for the Eagles in FBS than the Cougars.
