Boston College Schedule-A-Team: SMU Mustangs
All-Time History With Boston College: 1 game (0-1-0)
Last Faced: 1986 (SMU wins, 31-29)
Travel (if necessary): A bit lengthy via plane. The school is located in Dallas, which is at least three and a half hours away.
Mutual Interest Factor: Probably not much of any. The Mustangs have their pick of prominent regional football teams to fill out their schedule each year. Unless the Mustangs team develops a taste for fresh New England Clam Chowder, it is unlikely there will be much.
Intrigue Factor: Not much, but not zero if one thinks the Catholics vs. Protestants thing would be worth playing up. (It probably is not.)
The Verdict: Would not be opposed to scheduling, but would not go out of my way.
The last and only time Boston College played the Mustangs was right before they got the “death penalty.” Maybe that’s why they’ve been avoiding us for almost the last 30 years.
In all seriousness, the history between these schools is paper-thin and there does not seem to be much interest at all.
