Boston College Schedule-A-Team: Connecticut Huskies

All-Time History With Boston College: 12 games (10-0-2)
Last Faced: 2004 (BC wins, 27-7)

Travel (if necessary): Easy. Flight not necessary; about a 90-100 minute drive to East Hartford.

Mutual Interest Factor: Unknown. There might be some given that Gene DeFilippo is out of the picture, and some of the UConn figures involved in the lawsuit are out of the way, but so far, no movement on that end.

Intrigue Factor: Only if the concept of “Good for New England” is a factor.

The Verdict: Would not schedule.

I’m old enough to remember the hatred between these two programs. This went beyond the move to the ACC and the lawsuit when DeFilippo blocked UConn’s move into the ACC. The Eagles have seen them in two of the big three sports on campus, but I am not ready to see Boston College give in to Randy Edsall’s erstwhile dream of BC-UConn reunification.

These two teams will play each other again someday years down the road once the bad blood is sufficiently far in the past, but it’s still here.

Next: East Carolina
