2014 Bowl Games: Quick Lane Bowl

Where: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
When: December 26, 2014, 4:30pm ET
Who: vs. Big Ten team, though the MAC could be a replacement conference

Ease of Travel: Easy to moderate. It’s a long 700-mile drive through New York and southern Ontario, but a two-hour direct flight from Boston.

Desirability: Relatively low. Detroit has fallen on extended hard economic times and would probably not be the first choice of most Boston College fans for a tourist destination. Yet, if that bothers fans, they can always cross over into Windsor, Ontario and hit the casinos.

Likelihood of Getting Invited: Reasonably high. They would take us if we were available.

Though the fans would not go wild about the possibility of having to go to Detroit on Christmas to make this bowl on the 26th — well, that’s just it: a lot wouldn’t. The timing is not great, though it could be worse and on an actual holiday.

This is technically a Big Ten tie-in, but few of the bowl projections for this game actually have a Big Ten team making it because of lack of eligible teams. The MAC would likely pick up the slack, and in the event a team like, say, Western Michigan gets there, Boston College fans could definitely be outnumbered.
