Cam Atkinson off to great start for Blue Jackets
(SportsGlory, Rick Brisse)
Boston College hockey and Mister Jerry York, our fearless leader and patron saint, are known for grooming plenty of professional talent. Cam Atkinson, a former Eagle, national champion, and Hobey Baker finalist, is becoming one of those leaders for his team.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming to rely off of our Eagle product, and early in the 2014-15 NHL season, Atkinson has done good work. Columbus is missing some key role players, but Cam is stepping up; this author gives him his just due.
In the interest of full disclosure, entering play last night, you would not find Cam Atkinson’s name near the top of the National Hockey League’s points list, though you would find him near the top of the goals list with three scores in two games. Such things cannot be measured merely by statistics, though. Having only had the benefit of watching bits and pieces of the Blue Jackets to this point, it would seem Atkinson’s contributions go beyond the box score.
For those interested, Cam Atkinson had a point in Columbus’s game last night against Dallas. (Remember, not just quantified by stats and all that. But the stats still look good.)
