If we look at the NFL today, only one running back in the league has been able to do what Williams has done this season. And get this, if it were not for an injury that knocked him out of the Syracuse game, there is no question that he would have eclipsed Matt Forte’s season of 2,127 yards. That is how outstanding Williams has performed this season, when he is ranked tenth all-time in single-season rushing yards while only playing 11 ½ games in the season.

He has finished the year as the nation’s leading rusher with 2,107 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns to have him tied for sixth in the nation in rushing touchdowns. When you are carrying the offense and the defense is aware the ball is coming to you and you are still able to put up these outstanding numbers, it’s only fair to receive the most outstanding player award.
