North Carolina State at Boston College: 5 Big Questions
By Joe Micik
3. Are the Eagles likely to play down to their competition here?
Since we talked about the Eagles possibly melting down on the road, there’s also the chance that they let NC State hang around. At the outset, it appeared that the Wolfpack might be the kind of team to be roughly where Boston College is right now (which is to say, about .500 and flirting with a decent season). They’re not thanks to five losses in a row and a winless ACC campaign.
It’s no secret that the Eagles have saved most of their best performances for the best teams they’ve faced. USC not included, the Eagles gave Florida State and Clemson all they could manage, and even beat Virginia Tech (who are not as good as the previous two, but still). Meanwhile, this is a team that struggled with Villanova, was close with Army in the third quarter, lost badly to a previously lifeless North Carolina, and was in big trouble against New Mexico State in the fourth quarter.
If you’ve watched Boston College for any length of time, you would know that outside of hockey, nothing is ever easy. It would be safe to assume, therefore, that this game will not be easy.
