Boston College at North Carolina: 5 Big Questions
By Joe Micik
4. Is it fair to say that if the Eagles beat the Tar Heels on Saturday, they’re probably going bowling?
That’s not something that can be locked in stone, but it is a reasonable assumption. We cannot even assume that the Eagles will win (and if they don’t, there is still a realistic path to six wins), but if they do, the math becomes quite favorable. Since we are assuming with about a 95-percent level of confidence that the Eagles will beat New Mexico State on November 9, that gives them a fourth win regardless of what happens on Saturday. Give Boston College a win in Chapel Hill and New Mexico State could be #5.
From there, the Eagles would only have to win one of these four: Virginia Tech (H), NC State (H), Maryland (A), Syracuse (A). A win or two is definitely doable in that stretch.
Winning on Saturday would take a little pressure off the Eagles in terms of having to get those last few wins in November. Over the summer, this did not look like a particularly winnable game but now it is, and they’d do well to take this opportunity to snatch a road win.
