Maine at Boston College: 5 Big Questions

2. Will the defense have an easier time this week against Maine?

Probably. Last time I checked, Maine doesn’t have Duke Johnson, who broke off not one but two fifty-plus yard plays against the Eagles last weekend. Further, BC’s defense does have more talent than Maine’s offense, even if the talent had its hits and misses against another FBS team last weekend.

Maine is also starting a new face at quarterback in their season opener, which may or may not work to BC’s advantage (Miami did the same last weekend as well, but Stephen Morris > whomever Maine starts).

Does this mean BC will pitch a shutout? Not necessarily, since you could have garbage-time points, plays where BC gets soft and Maine takes advantage, or any number of crazy things that can happen. It will be a lot easier for them to handle the Black Bears, however (and if not, God help us all).
