In three years under the present regime, Boston College has not even come close to beating Virginia Tech. In 2009, they lost by 34, in 2010 by 19, and in 2011 by 16 (which should have been 23, though Frank Beamer told his team to take a knee near the goal line rather than run up the score).

It would take a truly special effort to beat the Hokies this year. Virginia Tech outcoaches BC by a mile and they have a strong talent pool, even though they’ve lost guys like David Wilson, Danny Coale, and Jayron Hosley. The Eagles would have to play orders of magnitude better than they have in any previous VT game since 2009 to have a shot at winning.
