Post-season

One day after Boston College ended their 2-10 campaign – the worst season BC football had in 35 years – Brad Bates announced that he had fired head coach Frank Spaziani. Though it came as no surprise to anyone who watched the team play, the fanbase as a whole still celebrated the dismissal as the start of a new day for the football program.

A few weeks later, that new era began when Bates hired Steve Addazio, formerly the head coach at Temple, to become BC football’s top dog. The candidate pool being reported through “sources” in the media and Bates’ actual target were completely different, but the new coach nevertheless had a great deal of work to do from day one in order to restore order to this sinking ship. Furthermore, the other challenge he faced was in winning the fans over and bringing them back into the fold after several years of not just losing, but a boring, complacent style of football.

Once Addazio named his staff, which included ex-Eagle assistant Ryan Day and former UConn defensive coordinator Don Brown, the coach turned his attention to recruiting. To date, Addazio and company have put together what some recruiting agencies think is amongst the best 2014 classes in the country so far. On the list at this stage are eight young men, including RB Marcus Outlow, DE Harold Landry, and dual-threat QB Darius Wade, all of whom have or are attracting major attention.
