And beyond…

Boston College’s spring football game and the activities surrounding it were cancelled due to the Boston Marathon manhunt, but none of that has stunted the growing sentiment around this program.

As we close out 2012-13 in Boston College sports and head towards the 2013 football season, one might not quite know what to make of this team. Perhaps they appreciate Addazio’s fiery new attitude and his recruiting advances but don’t see a major on-field improvement in the short term, or maybe they think this team can at least figure out how to become bowl-eligible as they start to rebuild.

No matter where one falls on this team’s ceiling in May 2013, what is undeniable is that the paradigm has shifted from May 2012. Back then, both fans and outsiders saw a product that was flawed and getting worse, but more importantly, they saw a team that had no hope as long as its leadership remained in place. Now, there is a new administrator and a new coaching staff that is trying to fix the many things that ail Boston College football. There is no telling how successful they will be in 2013, but the cloud that hung over this program last summer is breaking up, and it is in a better place today than a year ago.
