Game 18: Boston College-Brown Hockey Gameday

facebooktwitterreddit

Boston College Eagles hockey is back for the second half of the season, and looking to start a big late run on Brown hockey gameday.

The #15 Eagles are taking part in the 2015 Ledyard Classic up in Hanover, New Hampshire; Boston College will play the hosts, Dartmouth, in tomorrow’s contest.

In the here and now, Boston College is looking for one win at a time. The team knows that it will require a strong second half in order to achieve their goals, including an NCAA Tournament berth and more. Even contests such as these against quote-unquote lesser opponents are crucial.

What complicates this for the Eagles is that some of the key players on this team are still away in Canada contending in the 2015 World Juniors. Four active players, including starting goalie Thatcher Demko, are doing their patriotic duty in the playoff rounds of the tournament and will not be back for the Ledyard Classic. The Eagles will have to find a way to win without Demko, defensemen Noah Hanifin and Ian McCoshen, and forward Alex Tuch.

Further, the Eagles are to be without Steve Santini, injured in the Denver series (specifically, wrist), making their defensive corps even thinner. He has not played in approximately two months, and his return will not come in New Hampshire tonight.

Brown is having a bad season so far, owning a top-five worst offense (1.64 gpg; tied for 56th nationally) and a top-five worst defense (3.91 gapg; 55th). Can Boston College drop the hammer and take this winnable game?
