The Week 8 ACC basketball power rankings do not feature much movement due to Christmas breaks, but Boston College’s long-term trajectory looks poor.

Along with everybody else in the conference, the Eagles are set to begin conference play in earnest around the start of the new year. With the coming of 2015 will be a brutal stretch of games for Boston College: it includes games against Duke, Pitt, Miami, Virginia, Syracuse, and Louisville before January is done. Therefore, it stands to reason that if these games go the way we figure, BC might not improve upon their current standing.

Yet, they play the games for a reason. Let’s see where the Eagles sit relative to the rest of the ACC. (Note: this was prepared prior to this afternoon’s UMass-Lowell game.)
