Boston College MAC Football Schedule-A-Team: Massachusetts Minutemen

All-Time History With Boston College: 25 games (20-5-0)
Last Faced: 2014 (BC wins, 30-7)

Travel (if necessary): If at Gillette Stadium, it is a shorter trip for us than for the home team. If in Amherst, it is still only about an hour and a half by bus.

Mutual Interest Factor: Confirmed. It is the “Battle for the Bay State,” after all.

Intrigue Factor: More intriguing for UMass than it is for Boston College.

The Verdict: Would schedule home or away.

The “good for New England” game in all its glory, except it very clearly means more to the Minutemen and their program than it does for the Eagles. They were the ones making a big deal about the “Battle for the Bay State,” with Mark Whipple making the game this season out to be the most important home game every for UMass.

For legitimacy purposes, they need it more than we do, but there is no reason Boston College cannot continue to schedule them. It’s quick and easy.

Boston College MAC Football Schedule-A-Team: Miami RedHawks

All-Time History With Boston College: None
Last Faced: Not applicable

Travel (if necessary): No more than two hours out to Ohio.

Mutual Interest Factor: Given that Brad Bates came from there, it is possible that some could exist.

Intrigue Factor: Much more intrigue if this were in hockey.

The Verdict: Would prefer a one-off at home, if anything.

Bates has not made the move to contact his old school and get something scheduled for football; then again, would you want to go out of your way to help out a guy who quit to take a better job somewhere else?

There is also the matter of getting coin out of the deal, so maybe Miami would take it if they were offered.
