Boston College Big Ten Football Schedule-A-Team: Rutgers Scarlet Knights

All-Time History With Boston College: 26 games (19-6-1)
Last Faced: 2004 (BC wins, 21-10)

Travel (if necessary): Jersey’s not that far. Plane would be preferable as it would be a very quick trip, but in a pinch it could be done by bus.

Mutual Interest Factor: None since Boston College shipped out of the Big East.

Intrigue Factor: As intriguing as a game against Rutgers can be, that is.

The Verdict: Would probably schedule home or away.

The first Boston College football game I ever attended as a freshman was against Rutgers at Alumni Stadium – that 21-10 victory above in 2004. They have not met one another since.

I have been around the Boston College program long enough to remember when these two schools did not like one another. Many people my age or older do as well, and recall that rivalry. For them, scheduling Rutgers might be fun.

The younger generation probably sees some of their Eagle elders speak ill of Rutgers and wonder what their deal is. For them, scheduling Rutgers would not make a lot of difference.

Ultimately, I would pull the trigger on scheduling them if they had interest. Outside of Massachusetts, New Jersey is ground zero for Boston College recruiting. Keeping up a profile in the Garden State would help foster those efforts.
