Boston College Big Ten Football Schedule-A-Team: Penn State Nittany Lions

All-Time History With Boston College: 23 games (4-19-0)
Last Faced: 2004 (BC wins, 21-7)

Travel (if necessary): Short flight to Happy Valley, inside of 90 minutes most likely.

Mutual Interest Factor: Not much lately, but there used to be substantial interest. At one point in the 1980s and 1990s, the Eagles and Nittany Lions had faced one another 12 years in a row. That streak ended as soon as Penn State gave up independence and joined the Big Ten in football in 1993.

Intrigue Factor: A decent amount. Penn State has fallen on hard times since last we saw them, but for two teams that never joined the same conference, they had established quite a bit of history.

The Verdict: Would schedule home or away.

Boston College has historically had trouble beating the Nittany Lions, but as far as Big Ten teams go, they’re reasonably close and over time, the programs have not been unfamiliar with one another.

It may not happen again for some time, but the Eagles and Nittany Lions will probably play one another again in our lifetimes.
