ACC Football Week 10: No Joy in Hooville

They call the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets the Ramblin’ Wreck. These last few weeks, the Virginia Cavaliers have not been ramblin’, but they have nevertheless been a wreck.

With a 35-10 loss in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon, what was once a very promising season for Virginia is coming unglued as they have now lost three in a row to fall to 4-5. The worse news for them is that their schedule is about to intensify in terms of difficulty once more, as they close with Florida State, Miami, and Virginia Tech.

Georgia Tech never really let Virginia in this ballgame on Saturday, going up 21-10 at the half and then shutting down the Cavalier offense in the second while they continued to move the ball at a brisk pace. The Jackets rushed for 268 yards in the win, while Virginia had only 22. That came as part of a worse overall day for the Wahoos, who only had the ball for about 21 minutes.

Things are looking more bleak for Virginia now, but as for Georgia Tech, they are back at 7-2, thinking they have a real shot of getting to the ACC title game. They would be correct in that assumption. Their hopes may come down to the Clemson game on November 15.
