Legendary BC hockey coach Jerry York shares bond with RIT staff
Democrat & Chronicle (Jim Mandelaro)

While the football team plays at home, Boston College Eagles hockey is heading out to Rochester this weekend for a game against RIT. Venerable head coach Jerry York happens to know the coach.

The piece goes into all of the difficulty the Eagles will have in traveling out to Rochester — hopefully, the bus will have a movie playing.

Still, York and the Eagles will go there as a favor to Wayne Wilson, the RIT head coach who played for the Boston College coach during his previous coaching stop. Wilson was a defenseman for York on his first (of five, by the way) national championship team.

Those two guys love each other, and it should be an interesting game for the Eagles against a team they never see. The sold-out venue will be hopping as Boston College looks to get back on track following a lethargic loss to UMass-Lowell last weekend.
