2014 Top 6 Most Difficult Boston College Football Games
3. at Virginia Tech (November 1)
Few will deny that Virginia Tech is probably not as good as Clemson, but Lane Stadium has not been kind to the Eagles ever since Matt Ryan hit Andre Callender in the end zone on a Thursday night in 2007.
In 2009, the Eagles lost by 34 in Blacksburg. In 2011, the last game Boston College played here, the Hokies won by 16 and would have won by 23 if Frank Beamer hadn’t called off the attack while his offense was at the goal line in the dwindling seconds. This is part of a larger history of Boston College losses to Virginia Tech; the Eagles snapped a five-game losing streak last season.
Going to Lane Stadium and winning is never easy; it wasn’t even easy on that 2007 October night. Given that the road also has not been friendly to the Eagles over the last several seasons, including last one, Boston College will have an uphill climb here as they look for what would be an important victory.
