2014 Boston College Backs Preview: Bobby Wolford, Likely FB Starter
Our Preview: Bobby Wolford, FB
Wolford has pulled a Larry Csonka, switching from linebacker to fullback during his college days. With Jake Sinkovec now out of the picture for good, Wolford will be the starting fullback on the depth chart, save for other players being slotted into this position.
The role of the fullback is an important one in a Steve Addazio offense; let’s be honest: the guy loves fullbacks and tight ends, as they can block, catch the ball, and/or run with the ball. They are intended to be versatile, and Wolford showed some of that versatility last season.
As a receiver, he totaled just over 100 yards last season with the team’s first touchdown of the Addazio era. Wolford would also play as a blocker in what turned out to be an extremely productive Boston College running game.
Wolford might not get the ball often, but expect to see him in every game or nearly every game.
