2014 Boston College Football Training Camp Stories: Another Bowl Bid?

Even though this site predicted a 6-6 season last year and a bowl berth, not everyone shared our relative optimism for stabilization of the Boston College football program.

As a matter of fact, they actually finished 7-5 in the regular season, and if not for a last-minute collapse at Syracuse could have had an 8-win season. That in itself is not that impressive, except for the fact that the Eagles won two in the previous season.

The question many seem to be asking is if the Eagles can pull off an encore, making another bowl game despite the fact that a number of seniors have been lost. We know the guys are hungry to get there following their embarrassing defeat against Arizona in Shreveport on New Year’s Eve.

When Media Day happens later this week, expect questions to be asked of the team related to how they think this roster compares to 2013 and how this team proposes to get to another bowl. Of course, they will indicate a favorable comparison and say absolutely that they think they can get back to the postseason. Many of those asking might not be convinced that they can do it, but they team should believe, because it is a realistic goal.
