(5) STG: …Predict the ACC in 2014?

Visser: Clemson will be beyond motivated to avenge the 51-14 blowout FSU hung on it last year in Death Valley, and I think too many Seminole fans are dismissing that game far too easily. After that comes NC State. The visitor in this series has lost five straight—and this one’s in Raleigh.

There’s no game Louisville is looking forward to more than hosting the champs on the Thursday night before Halloween, and then FSU’s final ACC road game is at rival Miami, followed by the conference finale against BC, which obviously played them very tough last year, in Tallahassee.

Barring catastrophic injuries, Florida State will be double-digit favorites in all these games. And it certainly has the talent to run the table once again. But going undefeated two straight years is incredibly difficult, and there are some tricky contests along the way. Plus, the ‘Noles were very fortunate with injuries last year, and those kinds of things tend to even themselves out over time.

As of right now – and this may very well change — I wouldn’t be surprised to see FSU drop a game but still win the ACC and qualify for the inaugural playoff.
