Smith(6’1, 170lbs), who figures to be a quarterback upon entrance to the Heights comes out of Clearwater Central Catholic in Clearwater, Florida. He is ranked three stars by Rivals and holds offers from Wisconsin, Iowa State, and Indiana, according to 247 Sports.
The newly committed recruit camped in Chestnut Hill last week and told the Tampa Bay Times that “[when] I camped there it felt like home with the students, players and coaches…They also wanted me as a quarterback”. Indiana was seemingly the only school other than Boston College to offer Smith the opportunity to play at quarterback.
Jeff Smith is the second quarterback commit in Coach Addazio’s 2015 recruiting class after dual threat Elijah Robinson chose Boston College over offers from Nebraska and Michigan State among others. With Darius Wade and James Murphy set to compete for the starting job for the next 3-4 years in the future after Tyler Murphy, it will be interesting to see where Smith and Robinson or even Troy Flutie (the hopeful Brian Fallon to Doug’s Springsteen) fit into the mix.
Nevertheless, Steve Addazio is continuing to his build off his strong 2014 class and the only question is with this tsunami of Boston College commitments is: Who’s next?
