• LB target commits to Penn State (TigerNet, Tony Crumpton)
Check out Boston College’s full 2015 recruit list here.
The recruit in question here is Manny Bowen, a three-star linebacker and safety from Barnegat, New Jersey, who committed to Penn State on Sunday.
Boston College offered Bowen on February 14, offering him a month and a half earlier than Penn State did. It looked like he had his pick of schools, however, and the Eagles never truly appeared to be a legitimate landing spot for him.
Boston College just got its 15th recruit of the class this weekend in Chris Garrison.

• Softball: All-State selections, 2014 (NJ.com, Newark Star-Ledger HS Sports Desk)
Ally Frei, a Boston College softball commit from High Point, New Jersey, was named to the All-State first team by the Newark Star-Ledger on Sunday.
According to the piece, she was the New Jersey Player of the Year last season, and this year, Frei pitched an eye-popping 20 shutouts while breaking the state strikeouts record for a career with 1,426.
Clearly, the Eagles are getting a very good player for next year.
Boston College Baseball
• Cape League: Braves beat Mariners for second time (Cape Cod Times, Sports Staff)
While the Bourne Braves beating the Harwich Mariners is exciting and all that, there is a Boston College factor. John Gorman, a Boston College Eagles baseball player, pitches for the Braves. On Saturday, Gorman came in to close and set the Mariners down 1-2-3, earning the save.
According to the most recent stats available to us, Gorman is pitching about as well as possible. Granted, much of that has to do with his 0.00 ERA in seven and a third innings pitched. He has allowed just two hits while saving four games for Bourne.
