Boston College 2013-14 Year in Review, Part I: Football
By Joe Micik
In February 2014, Boston College announced a large signing class of 28 new Eagles, including two transfers from Florida in quarterback Tyler Murphy and offensive lineman Ian Silberman. In April, Murphy, an early enrollee, would be amongst those who shined in the annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game, being named the 2014 starting quarterback shortly thereafter.
May saw a very productive weekend for the Boston College Eagles at Radio City Music Hall. Andre Williams was selected in the fourth round by the New York Giants, followed by Kevin Pierre-Louis (Seattle Seahawks), Nate Freese (Detroit Lions), and Kaleb Ramsey (San Francisco 49ers). Seven other Eagles would go on to sign professional contracts as a total of 11 former Eagles made their way into NFL camps.
Just at the close of the 2013-14 year, with a great deal to look forward to in the future, Connecticut safety Ty-Meer Brown transferred to Boston College, looking to bolster the defensive backfield.
We close out this year looking forward to the next one in football, as with a favorable schedule, another bowl game appearance is quite possible.
