2013 Boston College Football: December

The 7-5 Eagles spent much of December preparing for the AdvoCare V100 Bowl, but on December 9, they also anxiously awaited word on their running back and whether or not he would go to New York. All knew that Jameis Winston was the likely Heisman winner, but even being selected would be a great honor.

Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 winner, delivered the verdict live on ESPN.

The #Andre44Heisman campaign succeeded and the Eagles running back became the first Eagle since Doug Flutie in 1984 to make the trip to the ceremony. He would lose the balloting to Winston as expected, but the publicity for the program would be invaluable. Williams would also go on to win the 2013 Doak Walker Award.

Unfortunately, the AdvoCare V100 Bowl against the Arizona Wildcats (Game 13) would be highly forgettable. Boston College lost 42-19 in the final game for Williams, Rettig, Amidon, Kasim Edebali, and the rest of the seniors in a game they would never lead.

New Year’s Eve was a somber one for this group, but more good news was yet to come.
