Every Boston College NHL Playoff Point: May 2

There was a 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoff game on Friday night where there were a handful of Boston College Eagles playing between both teams, and even more Eagles who did not dress for the game.
Neither one of those teams generated Boston College’s only point of the night on May 2. The only other game did, and the only Eagle between either team got it.
That would be Ben Smith, a former four-year Boston College hockey player who has been on this nightly feature before. Smith already has his name etched into Lord Stanley’s Cup, and with the way the Blackhawks are playing, they have as good a shot as anyone at getting it on there again.
While that is something that will be settled another day, Smith’s point was quite relevant in the present. Elsewhere in the league, Brian Boyle’s New York Rangers have a 1-0 series lead against Brian Gibbons, Brooks Orpik’s, et al. Pittsburgh Penguins. Those two teams will face off again on Sunday night in a game the Pens are probably going to want to win before the series heads to the Garden.
On another ex-Eagle, Chris Kreider of the Rangers reportedly practiced on Friday in a non-contact jersey, making progress towards his return from a broken hand.
