#2 Boston College hockey will take to the ice again on Sunday, but this game means more than any they have played so far.

The Eagles’ opponents awaiting them are the UMass-Lowell River Hawks, Hockey East rivals. What’s at stake is a berth in the 2014 Frozen Four down in Philadelphia in two weeks. Whomever takes this game tonight is the winner of the Northeast Region. Notably, all four of Jerry York’s runs with the Eagles to a national title have started in Worcester.

In order to get where we are today, Boston College defeated Denver on Saturday in a 6-2 rout. Junior forward and presumptive Hobey Baker winner Johnny Gaudreau notched his first career hat trick as he and his linemates scored all six Eagles goals. Meanwhile, in the nightcap, UMass-Lowell beat the Mavericks of Minnesota State-Mankato, 2-1. Their goalie, Connor Hellebuyck, was a rock inside the net and will have to stay on top of his game to shut down the nation’s hottest offense.

Having played each other twice this season, the Eagles lead the season series over the River Hawks, 1-0-1.

One could say it doesn’t get much better than this, but if you get to watch Boston College hockey play in Philly in April, then it clearly does.
