Losing a team in your conference is one thing. Losing to a bad team in your conference is another. Losing to a bad team in your conference with a worse coach than yours by 29 points is about as hopeless as a situation can get.
Wake Forest led in this game by as many as 32, the biggest lead they would have at any point during that year. The Deacs shot about 55 percent from the floor in this ugly game that demonstrated that the Eagles would be in the ACC basement for a long time.
