By now, local baseball fans are probably starved for the return of the game. The good news is that the team in socks of red suits your fancy, they are returning to the diamond today for Grapefruit League action in Florida.

If you have ties to Boston College, your loyalties may be split for a day: the Boston Red Sox are facing the Boston College Eagles in their annual spring training exhibition game. At least, some of them are.

NESN reports that of the two split squads playing Thursday, the one with the familiar Red Sox faces will be playing the Northeastern Huskies. Boston College will get the prospects and up-and-comers, like Rubby De La Rosa, who Manager John Farrell announced days ago would start against the Eagles.

So, even though the Eagles are just about guaranteed to lose, because they never ever ever ever ever win games such as these, you can still follow along. In Boston, you can listen to the game on WEEI 850am. There will not be a television broadcast.

If you tune in at, say, 4:05pm, it should be there according to information posted by Boston College Athletics. If it’s not there, remember that there will be a lot more baseball and we already know what the outcome will be, so chill.
