Notre Dame at Boston College: Winning for a Cause

A few days ago, Boston College Athletics — and the whole of the Boston College community — lost a loyal friend, the late sports information director, Dick Kelley.
The Boston College Eagles, to which he devoted the better part of his life, are our common cause. When the men’s basketball team faces the Notre Dame Fighting Irish tonight at Conte Forum, let’s hope they win for him.
The Eagles will wear a special patch tonight and for the remainder of the season in honor of Kelley.
Boston College’s season is long past the point of redemption at 6-18 (2-9), but that does not seem to matter at all in the context of this situation. The X’s and O’s, the substitutions, and the stats don’t matter much now, either. All we need is for these young men to dig deep and find a way to win a game tonight. What better way to honor their friend than to win at home in front of the fans in maroon and gold?
If only for today, let’s forget the troubles of the past 24 games and hope that Boston College basketball can boost all of our spirits in victory.
