NSD 2014: Tom Sweeney Signs Letter of Intent for Boston College Football
By Kyle Egan
Tight end Tom Sweeney officially signed a national letter of intent to play for Boston College Eagles football in 2014 on Wednesday, National Signing Day.
He was the 20th recruit to verbally commit to the class, having committed to join Head Coach Steve Addazio’s program on June 25.
Sweeney has played for New Jersey prep powerhouse Don Bosco in the town of Ramsey. The Eagles have farmed New Jersey for recruits in the past, and Sweeney is one of six newcomers from the Garden State.
Three of the recruiting agencies — Rivals, 247, and Scout — list Sweeney as a two-star recruit. Only ESPN gives Sweeney three stars. His measurables are a height of 6-foot-6 and a weight of 225 pounds. 247 lists his 40 time as being 4.75 seconds. Sweeney received some interest from Notre Dame and Rutgers, but camped with the Eagles on June 19th, was offered on the 21st, and committed four days after that.
The Boston College community welcomes Tom to the Heights.
