Boston College Tuesday Link Dump: Hockey Faces Merrimack; Basketball Meets GT

It’s somewhat rare for Boston College to have double-barreled sports action on a Tuesday night, and yet, here we are.
Merrimack: Christie’s Three-Point Night Propels Men’s Ice Hockey to 6-3 Upset Win over #5 Quinnipiac
Why is this article from several days ago important? Because it shows that the Merrimack Warriors, the Eagles’ opponents tonight, are more than capable of beating a top-five team. That victory took place in their own building up in North Andover, which is where Boston College will land tonight.
The Eagles are undefeated over their last nine games, going 8-0-1 in that stretch. Tonight’s game will be the first of two meetings with the Warriors this season.
Basketball: Tech Visits Boston College in First of Two on the Road
Boston College’s basketball season has been a virtual crime against humanity, with the Eagles dropping to 5-13 this past weekend. Tonight, they will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a game that at least one simulator believes is amongst the precious few Boston College might win the rest of the way.
The Jackets have been mediocre this season under Brian Gregory, losing both of their ACC road games so far this season and sharing the ACC basement with the Eagles at 1-4. Boston College is going to get two winnable games here against the two ACC Techs — Georgia and Virginia. Losing either one would all but guarantee a single-digit win total this season, and could end them up in last place in the conference when it’s over.
Softball: The Countdown Continues
This one’s from yesterday, but it clearly shows that spring sports are on their way back. Given the snow, it’s a good thing they open their seasons far away from home.
