Per a report by ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the Boston College Eagles have accepted an invitation to the 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. Their opponent in the game will be the Arizona Wildcats out of the Pac-12.

Boston College is expected to make the official announcement at 8:45pm.

The contest will be played at 12:30pm Eastern on New Year’s Eve at Independence Stadium.

This officially marks the first time in three years that the Eagles have been invited to play in a bowl game; their most recent appearance was a loss to Colin Kaepernick and Nevada in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on January 9, 2011. Boston College’s last bowl victory came in the 2007 season when the Eagles defeated Michigan State in the Champs Sports Bowl. The Eagles have lost three consecutive bowl games.

This is actually a very good matchup, which Soaring to Glory will spend the next few weeks breaking down. One major storyline will be the battle between Andre Williams and Ka’Deem Carey, perhaps the nation’s two-best running backs this season.

In terms of locations, this is not the most appealing that the Eagles could have drawn. Nevertheless, Boston College has accomplished what it set out to do at the start of the season and now has a chance to finish with eight wins against a decent team.
